This is officially confirmed in a new study by the Federal Environment Agency. This once again underlines the excellent sustainability values of coaches. The coach has the best carbon footprint per passenger kilometre (pkm) and also causes the lowest environmental costs. And it does so at a clear distance from other means of transport such as rail, car or air.

In terms of emissions, long-distance and touring coaches also lead the field in the most positive sense. Emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide and particulate matter are lowest compared with other means of transport. And that is why the energy balance is really impressive. For example, a car consumes about six times as much energy as long-distance buses and coaches, long-distance trains about 30 percent more and an airplane even ten times as much as a long-distance bus.
